From Emerald Waters to Terraced Wines: Emerald Grotto, Amalfi, Winery & Lunch Experience
Begin in the other worldly glow of the Emerald Grotto, where sunlight filters through underwater openings to turn the sea a luminous jade. Then surface into the bustle of Amalfi, with time to stroll its piazza, visit the cathedral or browse artisan boutiques. Late morning, you climb into the hills to a cliffside winery, trading sea spray for vineyard rows and stone-cut cellars. A relaxed lunch paired with the estate’s wines ties together the day’s threads of sea and town.

You start the day with your private driver collecting you from your accommodation in and following the curve of the Amalfi Coast towards your first stop: the Emerald Grotto.
Near Conca dei Marini, you transfer into a small boat to enter this famous sea cave, where the water glows an otherworldly green thanks to sunlight filtering through an underwater opening. As you glide across the surface, the rock formations and shimmering reflections make it feel like you’ve stepped into another world.
Back on the coast road, you continue to Amalfi, for a guided walking tour of this famous town on the Amalfi Coast. Visit the striking Duomo of St Andrew, wander the narrow backstreets lined with artisan shops and paper boutiques, or simply sit in the main piazza with a coffee, watching the rhythm of daily life.
Late morning, your driver takes you up into the hills above the sea to a renowned cliffside winery. Here, you meet your sommelier and begin a guided walk through the terraced vineyards that cling to the rocky slopes, learning how steep inclines, sea breezes, and volcanic soil shape the character of each grape.
The visit continues in the cellar, partly carved into the rock, where barrels and bottles rest in the cool dimness. Your sommelier brings the estate’s story to life – explaining its philosophy, winemaking techniques, and the distinct personality of its whites and reds.
After the tour, you sit down for an unhurried lunch at the family’s nearby restaurant. Course after course of local dishes – handmade pastas, seasonal vegetables, perhaps fresh fish or slow-cooked meat – is paired with a curated selection of the estate’s wines. With each glass, your sommelier highlights the flavours, textures, and how the wine connects back to the land you’ve just walked through.
In the afternoon, your driver returns you to your accomodation along the panoramic coastal road. You arrive back with the glow of grotto light, the echo of Amalfi’s piazza, and the taste of sea-facing wines lingering from a day that wove together coast, culture, and vineyard.
